Government Bill on criminalizing purchase of sexual services was given to Finnish Parliament in December 2005What can you do to help us?Send letters, postcards, memos or reports to our politicians and inform them about the reality of sex work laws. Our politicians need to learn about the counter-effectiveness of criminalizing activities in and around protitution. Our politicians need to know that categorizing all migrant prostitutes as victims of trafficking does not give effect to human rights nor does it help to handle unofficial migration. Our politicians need to know that prostitutes' clients are criminalized in many countries and it has not helped but made things worse. They also need to know that in Sweden they also planed (and some are still planing) to criminalize also selling of sex services. And they need to know that there are already many countries criminalizing both prostitutes and their clients and that this has not helped to solve any problems. Our politicians need to get evidence and examples about the Swedish governments unwillingness and uncapability to evaluate, research and report about the (counter)effects of the Swedish Law on the practical situation of prostitutes, trafficking and the human rights. If you (or your organization) are able to send a Letter, a Memo or a Report about some of the above mentioned issues to our politicians, it could help us in our efforts to educate them. Please, take into account:
Send your papers to Salli
AND send them directly to our politicians: See names and addresses for Finnish politicians |
